A sunny morning can make you feel unstoppable, then a gray sky rolls in and suddenly you’re tired, quiet, and counting the minutes until you can get home. We’ve all felt that switch, but we don’t always name it or understand it. That’s why we’re digging into the real connection between weather and mood, and how the atmosphere outside can shape what’s happening inside.

The conversation goes deeper into the emotional side of rain, cold, and winter weather, when feeling stuck indoors can stir up stress and old memories. Queen shares a personal, creative response by writing and performing an original song that captures how storms can bring the past to the surface. The takeaway is practical and empowering: we may not be able to control the weather, but we can build awareness, adjust our environment, and choose coping strategies that protect our mental health and help us regulate our mood.

What Weather Really Is

How Sunlight Lifts Mood

SPEAKER_04

Welcome to a Queen's Opinion. My name is Queen. My boy, my opinion, you're listening in. This episode we are talking about the weather. What does the weather have to do with your mood? According to the National Center for Atmospheric Science, weather describes the current state of our atmosphere in a specific place. Weather is always changing because it is affected by many different variables. What causes the weather? Scientists say weather is made up of six main components. These are temperature, atmospheric pressure, cloud formation, wind, humidity, and rain. If the weather is always changing, so can our moods, in my opinion. What does the weather have to do with your mood? I think the weather plays a huge part in how we react throughout the day. When we first wake up in the morning to the lying down of our heads at night, the weather can change our mood quickly. Just like the components that make up the weather changes, we can change our mood just as many times when the right components are presented in our daily lives. The components that can impact our mood changes may consist of other people's moods, situations we have found ourselves in, stress, money, physical location, music, and the weather. For example, we may have started the morning out on a clear, bright, sunny day. We got up out of the bed. We were feeling good, feeling sexy. Our spirit is up and we're ready for whatever comes our way this day. We got up with such a bright and sunny mood that we got to work a little bit early today. We feel like today is Friday, even though it's early on our Monday morning, but it was the weather that put us in this mood. When we have a sunny day, for some reason, we just feel good. We smile a little more, and if we were in the car driving to work, the DJ is getting you pumped up in the morning playing your favorite upbeat music.

SPEAKER_02

The DJ is feeling good too, so he is hitting you with that let's go music.

When The Sun Sets Energy Drops

Rainy Day Blues At Work

Winter Rain And Old Sadness

A Song Born From Clouds

SPEAKER_04

Nothing can bring you down on this beautiful sunny day. The music is on point. You're bobbing your head, tapping on the steering wheel, moving your body around. You feel good on this warm, clear, sunny day. Nobody can bring you down. When it is time to get off from work, the sun is beginning to set. It is not as bright as it was when you got up this morning. The day is winding down. The temperature came down a little bit. The sun is beginning to descend into the evening time, and you are not feeling as happy and bright anymore. As you are driving home, the weather begins to change. Now the sun is going down and your mood begins to change. You're not mad at any body or anything. Now the sun is going down and your mood begins to change. You are not mad at anyone or anything. You're just in a leave me alone. I'm tired mood. Your behavior changes as the sun goes down. As you are driving home, your friends call. As you are driving home, your friend calls you and says, Hey, let's go out for some drinks. I know it's Monday, but we need to have a brief girlfriend break. You are no longer in the mood. You are tired. You tell her not today, babe. Catch me later in the week. I just want to go home. Take off my clothes. I just want to go home, take off my clothes, watch me a good movie while I'm eating my dinner. Now that then as you are driving home, your friend calls you and says, Hey, let's go out for some drinks. I know it's Monday, but we need to have a brief girlfriend break. You are no longer in the mood. You are tired. You tell her, Not today, babe, catch me later in the week. I just want to go home, take off my clothes, watch me a good movie while I'm eating my dinner. Now, by the time you reach home, it's dark outside. You got to walk in this house, find something to eat, find a good movie on the TV. Your mood has changed. It's dark outside, a little chilly outside, the sky is not clear, a few stars are visible. You check to see what the weather is going to be like in the morning. The weather report says it is going to be cloudy with a chance of rain. I don't even know why they say a chance of rain when it's going to rain 80% of the day. It's a damn rainy day, not a chance of rain. When you woke up on this day, the sun was not as bright. The sky was covered with clouds, and your mood was foggy. You are not in the mood to take any crap from anybody. You show up at work and everybody looks at each other and walks by and doesn't say a word because you all are in a funky mood because of the funky weather outside. The only conversation happening is about coffee. I need my coffee. I didn't get to have my coffee this morning. They think it's not having coffee that puts them in this mood. No, no, no, no, no. It's the weather. When we have a bad weather day, it impacts our mood. Usually, everybody wants to be in a window office or sitting near a window to look outside. But on a rainy day, on a foggy, rainy day, don't nobody want to look out their window. You want to finish what you have to do and get the hell up out of there today. It's not just you, it's everybody on the J-O-B. After all, sunny days bring warm, happy feelings to your body. You smile more, the tone of your voice is bright and light. You feel love in the atmosphere. You want to give love. You want to treat everybody nicely. However, let the weather change to a rainy day. You look physically down, you feel down and heavy. The mind may trigger negative thoughts and feelings. You don't know if you want to cry and crawl up in a ball, stay in the bed, and not go to work. You start thinking about old feelings of sadness because you are stuck on a rainy day, and the rainy day has you stuck in your rainy feelings. To make it worse, rainy days in the winter are awful. You are stuck in the house trying to avoid the cold, rainy, icy roads. You are stuck in the house. Just like the weather changes at a drop of a dime, we can change our mood and behavior that the weather brings on us. As for me, weather does impact my mood and thoughts sometimes. I had a rainy and cold day mood. As for me, weather does impact my mood and thoughts sometimes. I had a rainy and cold day mood. So I started writing this song. Now don't judge me too hard. I realize I'm not a singer, but maybe a songwriter. Take a listen.

SPEAKER_03

What the weather has to do with it.

SPEAKER_04

What's the weather has to do with my heart?

SPEAKER_03

It's a cold day filled with clouds and rain. It's a cold day filled with memories of the past. It's a cold day and I can't get through the rain. It's a cold day and the weather is bleak. SPEAKER_04

See when it's raining outside, it makes those memories come alive.

SPEAKER_03

How allow people to hurt me? When the rain is falling, I hear the tears coming, and the rain just makes me weak.

SPEAKER_04

What does the weather have to do with it? Well I tell you like this when the clouds start forming and the thunder stars cracking, my heart breaks open and the pain comes through. So the weather has a lot to do. I need the rain to stop falling. I need the clouds to go away. I need the thunder to pass on by It's a cold day. What the weather gotta do with it? It brings me down, down deep in shine.

SPEAKER_03

I can't take it anymore.

SPEAKER_04

I can't deal with the hurt I feel. I can't deal with the life I live anymore. No, no, no. I need the rain to stop falling. I need the clouds to go away. I need the thunder to keep on passing. Get out of my way. Cause I'm stopping this internal pain. Pain I do to myself.

SPEAKER_03

I'm not going to let it take me down. Take me down. Take me down.

Choose Your Mood And Connect

SPEAKER_04

I hope you enjoyed my song. What does the weather have to do with your mood? Everything. We need to be aware of the weather changes and the impact it has on our moods. Once we realize the power weather has over us, we can then do something about our moods. We may not be able to control the weather, but we can control our mood. Don't let the weather control you.
